The Institute of Pastoral Studies at Loyola University Chicago invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant or associate level in Christian Spirituality, with an emphasis on Ignatian Spirituality, beginning August 2020. The selected individual will teach courses and advise students in our graduate programs in spirituality, with attention to the global and contextually diverse nature of the contemporary church and the variety of ministry settings.
The successful applicant will bring an earned doctorate in spirituality, theology, or a related field. Expertise in spiritual direction and Ignatian Spirituality (in particular the Ignatian Exercises) and professional experience as a spiritual director is strongly desired, as well as a solid record of (or clear potential for) excellence in research, teaching, distinguished scholarship, and student mentorship.
Candidates must be supportive of Loyola’s Catholic and Jesuit mission. Now in its sixth decade as one of the premier academic programs in education for ministry, the IPS contributes vitally to this mission, offering Master’s degrees and graduate certificates in pastoral studies, divinity, spirituality, pastoral counseling, counseling for ministry, and social justice.
