The 64th Annual Convention of the College Theology Society meets at Saint Catherine's University, Saint Paul, Minnesota,  from Thursday evening, May 31 to Sunday noon, June 3.  Rooms are available at Saint Catherine's from Wednesday evening through Sunday morning, and CTS members are warmly invited to arrive before the convention and enjoy the beautiful area, and take advantage of the optional preconference excursion that is being offered during the day on Thursday, May 31.

As is customary, the Board of Directors will meet on Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm.

Our theme this year is  "You Say You Want a Revolution?" 1968-2018 in Theological Perspective.  The convention chairs and annual volume editors are Susie Paulik Babka, Elena Procario-Foley, and Sandra Yocum.  Our local host and coordinator is Colleen Carpenter, professor of Theology at Saint Catherine University.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Registration is now open and will remain open until Monday, May 14 at midnight.  After that date, it will not be possible to purchase accommodations or meals at Saint Catherine's University.  Walk on registration will be possible for the program portion of the convention only.  Attendees will need to procure accommodations off campus and will need to pay ala carte prices for meals, or obtain meals off campus as well.

You can register and pay for your attendance at the convention on the following pages.  Note that each person (e.g., spouses rooming together) must register and pay separately.  This system does not permit couple or group registration.  Use the category "Non Member, Spouse Accompanying CTS Member" to order accommodations, meals, or banquets for a spouse.

Note that, if you elect to pay via check rather than credit card, your payment MUST be received by Steve Okey, treasurer of the College Theology Society, at the address that will appear on your confirmation email, no later than Monday May 7.  If your check has not been received by that date, your registration will be voided.

If you are not able to register as a Full Professional Member, Associate Member, or Graduate Student Member, you need to renew your membership in the Society before you can take advantage of the reduced rates for members.

REFUND POLICY: Before May 14: 100%; From May 14 through May 21: 50%; After May 21: 0%.

TRAVEL: The airport serving Saint Catherine's University is the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (airport code: MSP).

SHUTTLE SERVICE: Thanks to the superb efforts of our local coordinator at Saint Kate, Professor Colleen Carpenter, we have been able to procure a very competitive rate for transportation between the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport and the campus of Saint Catherine University.

If you have questions or encounter any difficulties in registering, please contact Tony Sappanos, our sales representative at SuperShuttle, directly, at tsappanos@supershuttle.com or at 763.318.2915 (telephone) or 612.272.8173 (mobile).

LIMITED AMENITIES: Please be reminded that CTS offers great value for the convention by utilizing college residence halls and dining facilities.  One should not expect the kind of amenities that one might hope to find at a hotel, which would be much more expensive. Take responsibility and be creative in making sure that your comfort is assured and your needs are met: pack a few clothes hangers, a small bedside lamp, a device for making coffee or tea in one's room if one should want that, and perhaps even an extra pillow.

OPTIONAL EXCURSIONS: Two are being offered this year:

1) Thursday, May 31.  Join us for an excursion to the Minnesota History Center, where we will explore The 1968 Exhibit, an acclaimed national touring exhibit, featuring: a Bell UHI "Huey" helicopter; the torch from the 1968 Olympics; oral histories from civil rights workers and Vietnam vets; landmark TV, film, and news clips; vintage fashions, household items, and toys; and a full-size replica of the Apollo 8 space capsule.

Find out more about the exhibit at:

www.minnesotahistorycenter.org/exhibits/1968

Meet at the main gate by Whitby Hall at 2 pm.  We will take a city bus downtown, and you will need $2 exact change for bus fare.  It's a 10-minute (half-mile) walk from the bus stop to the History Center.  We will have a 30-minute group tour at 3 pm, and then free time to explore the exhibit on our own. We will leave the museum at 4:30 to catch the bus back to St. Kate's--and since it's rush hour at this point, you will need $2.50 exact change for bus fare.

Cost: $10.  Registration for this excursion must be paid on the CTS convention registration pages by Thursday, May 10.

2) Saturday, June 2.  Join us bright and early for the CTS Semi-Formal 5K Run by the Mississippi River!  We'll meet at 6:15 at the northwest corner of campus (near Whitby Hall)--the entrance gate at the corner of Randolph and Cleveland.  It's a five-block walk down to the river, and at 6:30 runners will use the paved running trail to head north towards the University of St. Thomas. The route is a simple out-and-back; turnaround will be just past Shadow Falls.  Sign up as an individual or gather a team!  Spectacular prizes include: lifetime recognition as 2018's Fastest Theologian in America + Izzy's Ice Cream gift certificate + Handmade Victory Plaque!!!
