In relation to the conference theme, we welcome paper proposals that explore the religious implications of poverty on women; women and children make up the vast majority of the world's poor, but because poverty reaches beyond the material into the lack of rights, privileges and opportunities women endure, what does it mean to discuss the "feminization of poverty" in a spiritual sense? Other areas of interest: assessment of cultural conflicts regarding women, between East and West or between religions; what parameters mark feminism in southeast Asia, for example, or in the Middle East? How might cultural awareness, understanding, and appreciation be fostered among women? Please submit a proposal via email, 150 words max, to both Prof. Janice Thompson of King's College, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
