There are many ‘faces’ to the process of translation—linguistic, cultural, social, political, etc. In a rapidly globalizing world, the impacts of translation in human communication become not only more complex, but also more fraught with the possibilities of error or even danger. Within the arena of theological education, the very practice of pedagogical method is an implicit ‘translation,’ of tradition and praxis. Spirituality provides an interpretive geography in which our rhetorical and conceptual models can be framed and communicated across a number of personal and communal boundaries. The burgeoning arena of technological tools adds yet another dimension to how translation unfolds on a global scale. The Pedagogies and Spirituality Section invites papers which reflect upon and analyze these issues of translation within our educational practices and programs.
