The Justice and Peace section invites proposals addressing the convention’s theme, “Found in Translation: Living Faith in New Contexts.” We encourage prospective presenters to read and be inspired by the full text of the convention’s call for papers, and particularly request submissions related to the following topics:
- the “translation” of religious and cultural values into public discourse
- issues of justice related to the use of language
- marginalized or minority groups negotiating within the dominant society
- war and peace-building across racial, ethnic, and cultural divides
- justice and the ethics of religious inculturation
- internet and social media as tools for justice, conflict, and peace-building
Other proposals relating to themes of justice and peace will also be considered. Proposals should be 200-300 words and include one’s current institutional affiliation and position. Please submit proposals to both conveners via e-mail.
